Here’s a little video of the world famous Viento downwind run on the Columbia River featuring a flying dutchman board and Axis foils. The Viento Run is eight miles of tasty swells that many experts consider one of the most consistently challenging runs on the planet. Wind speeds range from reasonable (15 to 30mph) to ridiculous (30 to 50+mph) and the dominant west wind direction opposes the current flow from the east, which makes the swells steep-faced and sometimes huge. The videographer is Rod Parmenter and the cast of characters are gorge regulars. The conditions in the video would be considered a light to average day.
