About

We hand-build boards in our state-of-the-art facility deep in the jungle of North Shore Maui. Seriously. If you come to visit, bring good shoes and mosquito repellant

Mark's Bio

I was born in The Hague, Netherlands and lived there for the first 17 years of my life. My initiation to the sailboard and composite industry came in 1984 working at Brunotti Boards in the Scheveningen harbor.

I moved to Maui in 1986 and have lived there ever since. I became proficient as a production shaper working for Angulo Hawaii from 1987 -1993. During that time I further honed my composite skills traveling back and forth to New Zealand.

I started the Ding Kings Maui repair shop in ’94, expanded it to become an Outrigger Canoe shop and started the SIC Maui Paddle board brand in 2006. For 10 straight years we built most of the winning boards for the 26 mile Kaʻiwi Channel race as well as winning downwind and open ocean races worldwide. I sold SIC in 2012 and Ding King in 2014.

I took a sabbatical from entrepreneurship but kept designing the SIC SUP and Foil line-up. To purely focus on foiling, I started Flying Dutchman and also began distributing Axis foil in Hawaii in 2018. In January 2024 I changed the brand name of the custom foil boards I design and build on Maui to SIC by JungleWRX to reflect a deeper relationship with Tahe, the owners of the SIC brand.

I’m married to Donna Badome, I enjoy Dutch/US dual-citizenship. I still eat my French Fries with Mayonnaise but I’m stoked to replace the wooden shoes with slippers and Heineken with my favorite Sam Adams Boston Lager.

Our Values

Work hard, let the quality of your product speak for you. My business objective is to produce the best possible locally made boards by and for serious water men and women.

At Some Point, You Need A Board Made Expressly And Exactly For You

Professional watermen and women don’t question this–they know that “one size fits all” only works when you are not good enough to get all the performance a custom board can offer you. Beginners assume that once you are in the air, the board doesn’t matter. That is never true.

Why Fly With Us?

I put everything I’ve learned in 30+ years of boardmaking into building foil boards.
